Monument 14 is a good read for a teenage audience.

Monument 14, by Emmy Laybourne is a gut-wrenching story of a group of kids ranging from elementary age to seniors in high school, who get locked in a department store while the world is coming to an end.

Dean, the main character, leaves for school like any other normal day. He and his brother get on their buses, and head for school. On the way, abnormally large hail starts to rain down on the bus, causing the driver to lose control and flip. That is when it starts, the end of the world. Dean and the other kids manage to make it into a mega department store, called the Greenway, before the emergency doors slam down, making it impossible for anyone to get in… or out. Once locked in, the kids have to put aside their differences to survive the troubles that await them.
